Jaya Ram was commissioned to Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda, one of Odisha’s brilliant dance-makers and a collaborator of Sutra for the last 4 decades. The production is a product of research undertaken together with Datuk Ramli in South Odisha.
 
This completely new and original Odissi production absorbs the influences of folk genres in both the music and movement of Rama Natakam and Ram Leela, so as to be able to enrich the present repertoire of Odissi with the myth of Lord Rama, Hero of the Ramayana. All aspects of dance and music compositions, libretto and costume are commissioned to distinguished experts of their respective fields in Odisha.
 
We proudly introduce Jaya Ram, a much anticipated event in the dance calendar of 2022, and a befitting celebration of Malaysia and India’s 65 years of diplomatic relations. Jaya Ram makes its world premiere in Malaysia, followed by a Malaysia-India-Singapore tour.
