About This Event

Step into the world of Ronggeng through this interactive workshop designed for participants of all backgrounds and experience levels. Led by practitioners from Nusantara Performing Arts Research Center (NusPARC), the session introduces the foundational steps, musical structures, and cultural context of Ronggeng Kuala Lumpur — a social dance tradition that flourished in the city from the early 20th century to the 1960s. More than a dance lesson, this workshop recreates the communal spirit of Ronggeng as a shared cultural space, encouraging participation, connection and embodied learning within a contemporary urban setting.

Jom selami dunia Ronggeng melalui bengkel interaktif yang direka khas untuk peserta dari pelbagai latar belakang dan pengalaman. Setiap sesi bengkel akan dikelola oleh pengamal daripada Nusantara Performing Arts Research Center (NusPARC) yang akan mengajar langkah asas, struktur muzikal dan konteks budaya Ronggeng Kuala Lumpur — sebuah tarian tradisional yang mekar di ibu kota sekitar awal abad ke-20 sehingga tahun 1960an. Bukan sekadar kelas tarian, bengkel ini turut mencipta semula semangat kemasyarakatan Ronggeng sebagai ruang budaya bersama, serta menggalakkan penyertaan, perhubungan dan sesi pembelajaran seni tradisional bersuasanakan hiruk-pikuk ibu kota.
