About This Event

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The Last Tantagas - Keeper of the Sacred Text is a musical theater production that documents and artistically re-imagines the spiritual legacy of the Tantagas, female ritual specialists of the Kadazandusun community. Through theater, music, ritual chants (inait/rinait), choreography, and visual design, the production reflects on cultural transmission, spiritual authority, and the urgent risk of cultural loss as the number of practicing Tantagas continues to decline. The work is both a tribute and a living archive, presented respectfully for contemporary audiences while maintaining cultural integrity.
