JSY TRIO

JSY is a jazz quintet formed by Celist on vocal, Lee Peng on keys and Eddy Lim on saxophone. Officially formed in April 2017 when they debuted their performance at the International Jazz Day Marathon Show in Bobo KL and No Black Tie.

They were invited to perform at the 30th Anniversary of Western Australia Chinese Chamber of Perth in Crown Perth Hotel, Australia in August 2017. The band also performed in “Concert In The Dark” in conjunction of KL Arts Festival 2017. “Jazz Up CNY with JSY” was another performance they did in No Black Tie. Besides that they also hosted a JOOX live programme in April 2018. Despite the pandemic period in 2020, they never stop writing their own music, they also did online streaming concerts in Chirpy Bird Solutions and Jao Tim KL. Most of the tunes they performed are their original composition and also re-arrangement of the classic and pop tunes into JAZZ.

Celist Chow

Celist Chow (vocalist/band leader), a natural born singer who started singing since she was 15. Her biggest achievements todate include entering the top 10 of Malaysia’s most prestigious singing competition, Astro Star Quest 2014, and subsequently appearing as the only guest Malaysian artist for Taiwan’s powerhouse duo, Powerstation concert and artistic poetic singer-songwriter Jeremy Zhang concert in Genting Arena Of Stars. She also released her first album, “Heartstrings” and 2000 copies were sold within two months in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Lim Lee Peng

Lim Lee Peng (pianist/music director) is a music degree graduate from University Putra Malaysia. Lee Peng has been awarded “Outstanding Award” at Taiwan International Summer Jazz Camp, Champion of the 5th Roland Music Festival and Champion of the 7th YinZi Composition Competition. She has also performed at The Voice (Malaysia/ Singapore) Grand Final 2017, 4th Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival, Tokyo WA Meets Jazz Festival and 9th Penang Jazz Festival. She teaches piano at Bentley Music Academy and Yamaha Music Academy.

Eddy Lim

Eddy Lim (saxophonist) is a Masters graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire. He has performed at numerous
festivals such as Legend Festival in the United Kingdom, KL International Jazz Festival, Iskandar Putri Jazz Festical in Johor, etc. Some notable shows that he did was at Astro Chinese Golden Melody Grand Final, The Voice (Singapore/ Malaysia) Grand Final and Symphony Ariani Lebaran for Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, Anuar Zain, Misha Omar, Jaclyn Victor and Aida Jebat in 2017. During the last quarter of 2018, he was invited to do a short tour with WVC, a local jazz ensemble. He was in the top 10 finalists at the 1st Passport to Fame Battle of the Band Competition in 2011. Apart from performing in a small band, he is also a member of JCJO (Julian Chan Jazz Orchestra), an upcoming big band in town led by Julian Chan. Currently, he teaches saxophone in UiTM Malaysia.
