About This Event

The Kinh people are the largest community in Vietnam, accounting for

about 86% of the country’s population. Kinh folk dance is a traditional art form

that vividly reflects everyday life, beliefs, and festivals. The dances often originate

from labor and daily activities, performed gracefully in harmony with music and

diverse costumes, especially ao dai, ao tu than, and ao ba ba. Soft, flexible hand

movements are prominent, highlighting the charm and sophistication of Kinh

dance.

The workshop will be divided into two parts: the first focuses on teaching

three essential basic movements of Kinh folk dance, helping participants get

familiar with hand techniques, posture, and body movements; the second part

combines what has been learned to practice forming a short dance sequence.

Through these activities, participants will gain a clear sense of traditional beauty

and the graceful qualities characteristic of Kinh dance.
