About This Event

About The Cello Choir

Established in 2020 by Ms. Julie Dessureault, The Cello Choir, led by Hen Lit Ming and Lim Tze Yao, is a passionate community of young cellists. They unite cellists through music and cello-centric collaborations. Notable events include a fundraising concert on February 20, 2022, supporting MERCY Malaysia's COVID-19 Pandemic Fund, and a successful "Christmas Candlelight Concert" which fuelled their commitment to music and community. Since it's founding, The Cello Choir has hosted and collaborated masterclasses and recitals with international musicians and professors such as Bruno Ventocilla, Caspar Frantz, Jonathan Weigle, Màtyàs Major, Miranda Harding and Stefan Heinemeyer.

About the Concert

Elegy & Energy is a special showcase by our young cellists of their hard work in a landscape of cello masterpieces. 7 soloists accompanied with our cello orchestra, we will prove that cello is not only capable of playing the bass line, but it has the ability to play all roles you can ever imagine in an orchestra. Featuring famous short pieces by Tchaikovsky and the magnificent Dvořák cello concerto, it will be an evening full of cello vibrance and virtuosity.
