About This Event
The Next Generation Symposium on Japanese Studies 2025 aims to solidify the knowledge in the academic world of *Japanese Studies, a multi-disciplinary field which encompasses studies on Japan’s culture, society, economy, politics, history and more.
Here’s your chance to listen to competing presentations by 14 shortlisted university students of “The Second Japanese Studies Essay Contest and Mentorship Programme 2025”, running since the 1st of May. Cheer them on, ask questions, and witness the winners announcement ceremony in the morning segment!
In the afternoon, listen to two academic roundtable sessions led by students and prominent academicians as they discuss the evolution of Japanese Studies!
🗣️ The 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 will take place on the 25th of October at Perdana Hall, FSSK, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with the following agenda (You may come for both, or either sessions):

*Japanese Studies is an interdisciplinary field dedicated to the study of Japan’s, culture, society, politics, economy, and history. It encompasses both traditional area studies approaches and contemporary method that situate Japan within regional and global context. Despite common misunderstandings with ‘Japanese Language’, Japanese Studies is a study on its own and is conducted in English and many other languages.
