EXCHANGE FOR PEACE 2025

Bentley Music Academy, in collaboration with Mackay Choral Society (Australia), proudly presents two special concerts at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. These performances mark a dual celebration - Bentley Music’s 50th anniversary and Mackay Choral Society’s 80th - and feature Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, alongside a new work by Malaysian and Singaporean composers in an event that brings together performers of all ages in a stirring musical exploration of humanity’s shared journey through conflict toward peace.

Jenkins’ The Armed Man opens with a haunting 15th-century melody and unfolds through texts that honour diverse faiths and cultures. With references to the writings of Kipling and Tennyson, the work reflects on the devastation of war while ultimately offering hope and renewal. The concert concludes with a powerful affirmation: sorrow and pain can be transcended through unity, compassion, and transformation.

This international collaboration is more than a concert - it’s an educational and cultural exchange that nurtures musicianship, fosters lifelong connections, and promotes inclusivity.

Age limit: Recommended for 7 years old and above.
