About This Event

Sounds of the City at UAB: Spectrum of Sentiment is a collaborative project involving musicians, a dancer and a visual artist. Together, they create a unique musical experience that conveys universal human emotions such as love, loss, hope and resilience. This heartwarming and thoughtfully curated performance features six flutists, a dancer and a visual artist, combining original contemporary classical music with contemporary dance and visual projections.

At the core of the work, cloth is used as a metaphor for the mind, woven with elements of nature to remind us that we are inseparable from the natural world. The performance aims to transport audiences into a cinematic universe of thoughts and emotions, touching on themes of mental health, nature, sentimentality and human connection.

Sounds of the City is a collaboration between Think City and Rondo, and through this series, we will be presenting a series of recitals set to take place at U.A.B. Building, George Town.

This project is part of our 2025 Season Open Call, which supports passionate artists in bringing their creative ideas to life.
