About This Event

The Yin Qi Choir proudly presents a glorious evening of Baroque choral masterworks, featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s radiant Gloria (RV 589) and George Frideric Handel’s dramatic Dixit Dominus (HWV 232).

Written in the early 18th century, Vivaldi’s Gloria bursts with jubilant choruses, lyrical arias, and sparkling orchestration that showcase the Venetian composer’s gift for both grandeur and intimacy. Its uplifting spirit and luminous harmonies have made it one of the most beloved sacred works in the choral repertoire.

In striking contrast, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, composed when the young composer was in Rome at just 22 years old, is a virtuosic setting of Psalm 110. Brimming with fiery energy, intricate counterpoint, and emotional depth, this monumental work reveals the youthful brilliance and dramatic instinct that would define Handel’s career.

This concert brings together the Yin Qi Choir & Orchestra and the Kuala Lumpur Madrigal Singers, conducted by Caeleb Tee and Ng Xing Yi, alongside an outstanding lineup of soloists: Sharlene Rani, Chew Shi Yun, Kellvin Loo, Max Tan, and Sean Chay. Together, they will breathe life into these two masterpieces, transporting audiences to the grandeur of the Baroque era.

Join us for an unforgettable musical journey through sacred texts, where the splendour of Vivaldi’s Venice meets the passion of Handel’s Rome.
