About This Event
Between A River and Lightning is a conversation on time, memory and embodiment at the beginning of 2025 between a human choreographer and the AI, Claude 3.5 Sonnet; in which the choreographer almost falls in love, but comes to their senses.
Created by Malaysian-born, Vancouver-based choreographer Lee Su-Feh in response to a prompt by Dancemakers and FADO Performance Art Centre in Toronto to imagine a speculative choreography for 50 years into the future, it is a text-based work which currently exists as a website https://su-feh.vercel.app/index.html This work can be read as performance, as a guide for somatic practice, a record of a real exchange between human and AI, a performance documentation, a choreographic score, and an historical document - a snapshot of human-AI interaction at a particular moment: Jan 2025, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On March 22, 2025, at Five Arts Centre, it will be read by human actors, including:
- Mae Elliessa
- Arief Hamizan
- Faiq Syazwan Kuhiri
- Alfred Loh
- Farah Rani
The reading is one hour, followed by a discussion led by Mark Teh.
