GEMERSIK DIALUN PEKIK

"Gemersik Dialun Pekik" is an acoustic music showcase featuring 10 local independent bands, scheduled to take place on December 28, 2024 at Black Box, Damansara Performing Arts Centre.

The event serves as an extension of the documentary film PEKIK, celebrating the pioneers of Malaysia’s underground music scene from the late 1980s to the present day.

Recently, PEKIK was honored as a finalist at the 33rd Malaysian Film Festival under the “Best Documentary” category. Prior to this, the film also gained international recognition at the Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival in the same category.

The Gemersik Dialun Pekik event will feature two performance sessions on the same day. Details of the sessions and participating bands are as follows:

Session 1:
Time: 2:30 PM

• Private Whizz

What makes Gemersik Dialun Pekik particularly special is that it also features traditional acoustic music through a dikir barat performance. This initiative not only highlights Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage but also ensures it remains appreciated within the evolving modern music landscape.

The Gemersik Dialun Pekik event is organized by Stereo Pixels Sdn Bhd and proudly supported by the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia).
