Mahsuri (& Other Peculiar Tales)

An autistic boy stumbles upon a mysterious book of old Asian legends that transports him and his friends into a musical world of magic and wonder. Mahsuri was selected as a finalist at the Tokyo Short Shorts Film Festival and also received the BOH Cameronian Arts Award for Innovation in Musical Theatre.

About This Event

Mahsuri (& Other Peculiar Tales) revamps an iconic Malaysian legend with a clever, modern twist. Five students, including autistic genius Adam, are locked in a detention classroom. They stumble upon a mysterious book of old Asian folklores that helps them pass the time. As they read, the classroom morphs and the kids find themselves lost in 18th century Langkawi. Adam must help magical Mahsuri, wife of warrior Wan Derus, escape from the wrath of her mother-in-law after false accusations of adultery and dishonesty are thrown upon her.
