Holding Space for GTF Team
About This Event
22nd July, 6pm-8pm, Let's make some safe space for the GTF team at Digital Penang. In these following 3 days, we have been visiting quite a lot of GTF events. We appreciate all the efforts under the tired faces, but a strong will is sending information to all of us participants. Isn’t this the function of a festival? Suddenly all the experiences make sense: a festival to confront a social issue, a festival to make a social impact. This is HERE, and this is the NOW.
On Monday, we decided to take the initiative to create a safe space for the GTF team. (Although they know we will always be there). A space where we can prioritise their voices, a space where we can let them share their experiences, a space where they can release. We call upon our friends, if you are still around George Town, please come to listen to them. We come to empathise with them. We are not here to judge, we are not here to identify solutions, we are not here to solve. Purely for emotional support. Let’s make the festival pause and return the moment to the team.
Please be reminded that this session is a closed session, only shared by WhatsApp. You are welcome to share with your close friends ONLY. No public announcement, no social media posting. We will prepare a simple dinner to honour the hard work of everyone. Kindly RSVP yourself, so we could prepare enough.
Additional information:
- We have two open forums running before and after this session. You are welcome to join. Here.
- To keep it safe, we WON'T be open online streaming. However, you may write your message to sohchonghong@cloudjoi.com, and we will convey the message to the GTF team.
- The session can be conducted in multiple languages, based on the preferred languages of the GTF team members. We will have a moderator to convey the messages and facilitate the conversation.
Ling Tang told me the other day, "My current priority is, I want to ensure my artists and everyone that participates in the festival is safe." Let's support each other, let's protect together, and acknowledge the help from the team.
