About This Event

George Town is a musical treasure trove, home to Malaysia’s largest church pipe organ.

Erected in 1914 and assembled in Penang by 1916, the Assumption Church pipe organ was restored in 2013. In 2017, St George’s Church added to this rich musical history with the installation of a new pipe organ.

Nestled within the heart of the city, these two instruments are situated within mere walking distance of each other. Audiences will lend their ears to a diverse selection of music performed by organists from both churches. Specially arranged for the organ, timeless classics by Penang-born musical icons like Jimmy Boyle and Tan Sri P. Ramlee will join the mix, allowing the city’s vibrant musical heritage to fill the air.
